High Drama
We love the Inglesina table chair we bought for G on craigslist, but since it forces us to approach feedings from the side and because we’re too lazy to hook it back to the table after we use it at a restaurant, we needed something else for day-to-day home use.
I love buying used for two reasons: I’m cheap, and I like the idea of not piling our Earth with any more plastic than necessary. So my first stop was Sparkle Kids upscale retail where for $85, I acquired a used Nona Modern highchair that sells new for $179. Got it home, and Brant was no sooner in love with its sleek aesthetic than we realized it was slouchy, hard to adjust, and poorly shaped. Luckily I’d ore-negotiate the ability to return it (told her my husband was picky) and she was willing to take it back.
I enlisted my Facebook friends for advice and got a few recommendations for full-sized high chairs in the $150-$250 range - but the consensus was clear: an option that straps into a dining chair is what you really need.
I was reluctant. Our chairs are light and the models I saw included a carrier handle intended to tucked through the slot at the base of the chair’s back - a slot our cheap Ikea chairs lack.
We’d hit Babies R Us, Target , and Wal-Mart on Sunday evening before I faced the music; We were going to have to spend around $150. Blegh.
I finally settled on the Chicco Polly and after extensive Googling, resigned to the fact that the best price was at Target ($139). So around 9:40p, I headed back to the Target near our house to scoop one up. And that’s when I found this little ditty!
$29. All-plastic. Dishwasher-safe trey. By Fisher Price. It may be ugly, but it fastens securely to the chair and tucks right under the table so that it’s hardly seen. We saved $110! Woo!
Highly recommended.
Greyson napped it up this week in the cuddly blanket his Aunt Holly and Uncle Robert gave him for Christmas.
Meagan and Cameron got married! And they are on their honeymoon in Mexico! I’m jealous!
Miss Erica has taught G a new trick! And we love it!
After our traditional weekend breakfast at Maudies today, Erin and I wanted to find something to do outdoors. She remembered seeing small kiddie pools on sale at HEB, and we figured, what better than to introduce G to summer splashing! It’s a good thing I was holding the camera because this cute dude made it hard for me to resist jumping in.
Brant and I were excited when it came back that G’s head is now at only 79%. Unfortunately on second glance we realized that it actually says >98%. So apparently he’s gonna be a smart kid!
A smart kid who wears custom-made hats.
As the person to whom these glasses belong, I’ll admit that I made the same gesture when I realized how thick the lenses needed to be.
Dad convinced G to show off his two pearly whites. We can see the top two toofies just under the skin, so only time will tell whether G will be lucky enough to sport the Young family gap.
Some of the awesome hand-me-downs G has received included some pretty sweet kicks. I found them in the “still too big” drawer Friday… And they are almost too small already! Gotta start getting some use out of them before it’s too late.
Brant caught this shot when my sister stopped to check her ‘do at City Barber Shop in downtown Bryan.
